Termites in a Steel Frame House
It's a common myth that you can't find Termites in a Steel Framed House. Steel Framed Homes may be Termite resistant but they are not Termite proof. With Termites measuring between 1/8th to a 1/4 of an inch long they are able to pass through a crack or an expansion joint in a home.
As with the Building Code of Australia, it recommends that you discuss with your Builder Termite Management options and maintenance. Whatever your home is built with, you should have termite protection and inspections.
People like to build their homes with steel as they feel it is more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. Termites cannot destroy the steel structure but can consume and do damage the timber products within the property.
