Termite Treatment Cost
If you are considering protecting your home or property from Termites or you have unfortunately found Termites, you will be asking home much does a Termite Treatment Cost.
How much is a termite treatment?
In comparison to the thousands of dollars, repairs can cost, a termite treatment can protect your property from a risk of a termite infestation. There are a few different options depending on your situations.
The Band-Aid Solution – Option 1 (1st Stage Treatment)
If you have found live termites in your home, the object of the exercise is to eliminate the termites feeding in the house and eliminate the source nest.
This is done by first by carrying out a thorough termite inspection to determine where they are feeding to the house and yard. Next foam is applied (which resembles shaving cream) with an active ingredient to the areas where termites are found, this is all we use and is the safest product to use internally in a house, no dust or smells.
This foaming treatment effects the termite’s behavior stopping them from grooming one another which is important in the termite colony. If we infect the nest and they stop grooming, a fungus that occurs naturally in the soil around your home attacks the worker termites first and kills them.
Now without the worker termites in the nest, there is no one left to do all the important things like chewing the timber i.e. your house, feed the young, feed and tend to the king and queen. Two weeks have passed, and the colony is unable to win the battle between the infection. So, it’s all over, ……………but is it??????
- You need at least 10% of the colony affected by the First stage treatment to eliminate the nest completely
- 10% of a colony depending on species 10—12 coffee cups full of living termites, that’s a lot of termites and homeowners unknowingly disturb the infestation reducing the termite numbers dramatically.
- It will not provide further protection for the rest of the house.
- So, when Band-aid treatments rely on reinfestation’s occur regularly because the colony numbers have not adequately been affected and are still looking for food.
With D-Tec there is no charge for a First stage treatment when a full proposal has been accepted by the client.
Termite Treatment Procedure – Option 2 (2nd stage)
Termite treated zones or 2nd stages are used to protect the home against termites for up to 8 years. They consist of trenching around the perimeter of the slab of the home and drilling small holes through external paths and paths to form a complete treated zone around the home.
Cost of Termite Treatment
The cost for a Termite treatment barrier will vary between $2,000 to $4,500 for a small to a very large lowset home. Two story homes are cheaper to treat because the footprint of the dwelling is smaller e.g. less meter to be treated. Other factors relating to price depends on the type of chemical used, construction of your home and size.
Termite Baiting System – Option 3
Bait systems are also great for Termite monitoring and cost usually $1,600 to $3,500 for a small to a large home. Sentricon is the system we rely on it has pre-loaded stations with bait that will last inground for 5 years. This is an option we normally recommend where a chemical treated zone cannot be applied e.g. environmentally sensitive areas. Or if a home is built in such a way that a treated zone cannot be applied.
This method is very useful for larger commercial complexes or body corporate dwellings where the body corporate would like to monitor termite activity to the common areas.
Termidor Termite Treatment Cost
Termite treated zone stages one and two once done with a non-repellent chemical such as Termidor will protect your home for 8 Years. Prices range depending on which product of Termidor you decide.
The only additional cost is a yearly Termite inspection service agreement to ensure there is no conducive conditions or disturbance to the treated zone. This is a better option if you own a brick slab on ground home.
Termite Protection Cost – Bait Systems
Termite Bait systems will cost $1600– $3500 and include servicing, monitoring, and baiting for 12 months only. Each year after the service fee is usually calculated on how many stations were installed, to begin with.
Monitoring systems do not carry a service agreement period.
